PIECES OF MY MIND

What’s been left behind
‘68 and ‘69 still shine
Pick up the pieces, pick up the pieces of my mind
Pick up the pieces, pick up the pieces left behind
Let the road unwind
Other days are there for us to find
Pick up the pieces, pick up the pieces of my mind
Pick up the pieces, pick up the pieces left behind
We’ve left behind
We got high upon a mountain side
Watched our children grow the reasons why
What’s been left behind
Pick up the pieces, pick up the pieces of my mind
Pick up the pieces, pick up the pieces left behind
ROAD WITH A REASON

A road with a reason
A tree with roots
You got me thinking about time
That’s the truth
A long way to travel
Further to go
A road with a reason, taking me home
We’ll just say we never tried, we never tried
To see those things from other sides
We never tried
Move with the season
The straighter the route
I started thinking about time
That’s the truth
Life it unravels
Little to hold
A road with a reason, taking me home
We’ll just say we never tried, we never tried
To see those things from other sides, we never tried
A road with a reason
A tree with roots
You got me thinking about time without you
A long way to travel
Further to go
A road with a reason taking me home
HERE FROM THERE

There’s a clock that keeps our time
Some of yours and some of mine
Dig the sun till the sun don’t shine no more
Looking back that leads nowhere
Emptiness that’s hard to bear
How did we get here from there?
I’m not sure how it’s done, but time labours on
Could it be it’s time to travel along, travel on
Then there may be something more
Universes, sliding doors
Then there may be nothing more to this
Looking back that leads nowhere
Lonliness that’s hard to bear
How did we get here from there?
I’m not sure how it’s done, but time travels on
Could it be it’s time to travel along, travel on
There’s a clock that keeps our time
Some of yours and some of mine
Dig the sun till the sun don’t shine no more
No more
RAINY DAY POSTCARDS

A rainy day postcard, a bottle of blues
You say you miss me like I’m missing you
I miss the sun come shining through
A rainy day postcard, a bottle of blues
I’m tired of the weather
Now ain’t that the truth
I’m counting up whether I have known deeper blue
Do you miss the sun come shining too?
A rainy day postcard, a bottle of blues
Here and then I’m wishing again
Oh I wish it would stop
Here and then and over again
A rainy day postcard, a bottle of blues
You say you miss me like I hurt for you
Just look at that sun come shining through
A rainy day post card, a bottle of blues
Here and then I’m wishing again
Oh I wish it would stop
Here and then, and over again
How I wish it would stop
HELL WAS FREEZING

Another season, I woke it was night
Ice on the willow, I saw I was blind
The bars were closing
As another day died
Hell was freezing in winter time
A long succession of blind and the blamed
The good and the bad times, they were one and the same
The stars looked different than they had before
Hell was freezing over once more
I had no objection
I watched the parade
The saints and the sinners were one and the same
I felt no different as another day died
But hell was freezing in wintertime
Hell was freezing in wintertime
ANY DAY

Don’t fear failure or mess with regret
There might be something that I never said
Something good, we could still do
Still time to say I’m in love with you
Any day could kill a man
There is no reason if there’s no plan
Time is tighter
And nobody’s friend
Love lost in longing is not found again
Sunk to the deep, deep ocean blue
Lost in the space here between me and you
Any day could kill a man
There is no reason if there’s no plan
Nothing to understand, nothing to understand
So don’t fear failure, or mess with regret
There might be something that I never said
Something good we could still do
Still time to say I’m in love with you
I WON'T GIVE UP THE GHOST

I won’t give up the ghost
I’ll stay around when you need me most
Here I will be
You’ve been from pillar to post
You’ve lost the things you needed most
Take it from me
The best part of me
I had my head in the past
I moved along but kept looking back
And that’s no place to be
Moving from pillar to post
I lost the things I needed most
It’s easy to see
A love for the ages
Lost now it seems
Love will wear many faces
Don’t turn your pretty back on me
You had your head in the past
You moved along but kept looking back
And that’s no place to be
Still I won’t give up the ghost
When you’re not around, when I need you most
You’ve taken it seems
The best part of me
ALRIGHT AGAIN

Good days, old ways time will return
We’ll rebuild with that love we’ve learned
I dig my time all on my own
I need no strength to see what’s shown
Time like a runaway train, stealing through the fire and rain
It was alright again
Train carry me where that word is true
Seasons I got lost in you
Dig today where tomorrow grows
Peace spreads, there
Where the hand’s unknown
Time like a runaway train, speeding through the fire and rain
It was alright again
All change old ways time will return
We’ll rebuild with that love we’ve learned
I dig my time all on my own
Time like a runaway train, speeding through the fire and rain
It was alright again
And I need no strength to see what’s shown
IT ENDED AS IT BEGUN

There’ll be days better spent
Could-have-beens, accidents
And other things we might’ve said, my love
There’ll be times we’ll feel blessed
Other days we’ll do best to forget
Through it all, let's not regret our love
We carried it far enough
It ended as it begun
Skies full, lead and rain
I had to get back to nothing again
Who’d have thought so little remained of our love
Seems we’ve learned nothing till now
Or less than nothing
All our hopes,worries and doubts
All over nothing
There’ll be days better spent
should’ve-beens, accidents
Many ways we might have saved our love
We carried it far enough
It ended as it begun
Skies full, lead and rain
I had to get back to something again
Who’d have thought so little remained of our love
Our love, our love
MOCCASINS

All rights reserved
Those moccasins, moccasins
Broken and beat
The Indian shoes that I wore on my feet
And if there’s any place left, where I’m meant to be
It was walking with you on felaheen streets
Moccasins, moccasins
Lonely unsold, I stood the winter
Till winter got cold
And if there’s any place left I’ll call it my home
The company I kept never felt so alone
So alone, so alone
So alone, so alone
Now i’m out here in you’re on my mind
There was nothing but you on my mind
And I was walking
I just went on walking
In those moccasins, moccasins broken and beat
The Indian shoes that I wore on my feet
Somewhere back then
I was something to see
Walking with you on the felaheen streets…………so alone
GOOD TIMES

Good times, thank goodness for good times
Got me right back remembering when I was feeling alright again
Lonely the time when the drugs, the devils decide
I started right back feeling that I would never be right again
Lost in the wake of some other lie
I took a dose, I hid for a while
The thought of you then stuck in my eye
Now I can see the right from the wrong the wood from the trees
A place to belong …a place to belong
Bad times, left the doubts, the devils to drive
A voice was telling me that I had arrived
But I did not know just where
Further behind, keep on moving, eyes on the line
A voice was telling me that I would be fine
But I did not know just when
Strung out again on some other lie
Life in a day, a day in the life
The thought of you then caught in my eye
Now I can see the future, the past
The present looks in, I hope that it lasts
Man, I hope it’ll last
Good times, thank goodness for good times
Got me right back remembering when I was feeling alright again
END SONG

May I tie my heart to the loneliest part of your day? Ending only to start again
Start again
All this history, a million battles at land
And they were at sea
Ending only to be again
Be again
Walking through the end days
Children growing the same
Children growing the same
Through the end days
Walking away
Growing the same
Growing the same
Through the end days
Should I walk alone
Frozen forests of fear
Brittle as bone
Only to heal again, heal again
All these wasted words
Falling silent as snow
Where nobody heard
Only to fall again, fall again
LEAVING AGAIN

Fading light
I’ll put that thought further behind
Holding the days as hard as I might, so tight
And you’ll never know, the many ways I’ve let you go
Hold back the days and let us walk slow
Now you’re leaving again, all those people you’ve been
Now you’re changing again
Love of my life
You’ll be with me though I stay behind
Holding your heart both day and both night
So tight
And only you know, the many ways I’ve let you go
Hold back the days and let us stroll slow
Now you’re leaving again
All those people you’ve been
Now you’re changing again
